ZWZ Bio-Fuel Standards

A ZWZ Participant must contract with a spent grease collector who complies with the below ZWZ Bio-Fuel Standards to meet the ZWZ Criteria.

• The company must be a registered member of the National Biodiesel Board.
• If biofuel is sold or used at a third party company, the company must send a biofuel/biodiesel sample to an independent third party lab for testing to ensure the product meets EPA specifications (ASTM D6751).  Testing must be done at least annually.
• The company must be registered with the IRS as a fuel producer and report quarterly to the IRS.

Although not required by the regulations, the ZWZ encourages grease collectors to be a registered F.O.G. hauler with the GA Environmental Protection Division.

Spent grease collectors submit documentation supporting their compliance with the ZWZ Bio-Fuel Standards.  The Sustainability Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources reviews the documents to determine if the company meets the standards.
